Volcanic rock sculpture carved on the back with elements representing a carried load: possibly a human figure or an animal. Dimensions: 1.28 m height, 59 cm maximum width, 39 cm thickness. Distinguished by anthropomorphic features and an expression of serenity.
Professor Carlos Sánchez (UNAL, 2023) describes it as similar to the figure engraved on the sarcophagus lid of Mound III at Alto de Los Ídolos in Isnos. At the back, at neck level, a rope holding an animal—possibly a monkey—is visible, with its limbs tied to the statue's back. Registered in ICANH Resolution 1457 of 2023.
Every lithic element at Vegonia was documented with the National University. The pieces were never moved to a museum: you see them exactly where they have rested for centuries.
