Cancel Tomb No. 1

Funerary structure built with 7 lateral volcanic rock slabs. Dimensions: 158 × 183 × 90 cm. This is the first evidence on the trail of how the ancient inhabitants of the Upper Magdalena buried their dead, covering the chamber with flat stone slabs.

Cancel tombs are characteristic of the ancestral culture of the Upper Magdalena. They were discovered during agricultural drainage work. The discovery of this structure was one of those that gave rise to the Vegonia Arqueológica project.
